Should i mention this to colleges?

Not exactly sure if this is the right place to post this, but i need an opinion on this.

Im a model (as in currently signed to well known agencies in the country), but i wasn't sure if i should mention that as a job when applying/interviewing. Its something that im very committed to and it takes up a lot of time. Other students at my school say i should put in my resume, but i feel like i shouldn't. What should i do?

Modeling is hard work and will definitely look good on your application if you explain your dedication to it. Why do you feel that you shouldn’t mention it?

I wasn’t sure if it would hurt or help my chances.

Frame it as a job.

Yes, include it under ECs – it’s a job like any other. It might also offer you a topic for your essays – have you run into prejudice from people who assume if you’re a model, you must be not that smart? Has your experience modeling caused you to think about our society’s attitudes towards standards of beauty, etc.?

If nothing else, it’s an unusual job and it will make you stick in admissions officers’ minds.

Agree, list it as an extra curricular. Colleges want to know that you do SOMETHING with your spare time. More people would be models if they could. :)

Yes. Mention it.

Certainly mention it.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely try to use it in my essays. And yes, people think I’m not smart because i model or they say don’t worry about college, but i know that modeling isn’t a permanent job for most so my education is really important to me.

I’d include it under either ECs or work experience (if you are getting paid).

You don’t have to put it in your essays unless it fits with your essay topic really well. You can just list it as an EC, too.

are you kidding, OP? You’ve done some really impressive work that you can be proud of. You’re the equivalent of an international athletic superstar. You have to mention this in your ECs, including some of the mags and campaigns for which you’ve done work. It is a marvelous talent you have and a great deal of hard work that probably affects your school work.
