Should I move schools???

I am currently a future 10th grader at a charter high school which I feel doesn’t offer the opportunities that a public school offers. I also feel as if the school “babies” students and further does not ready students for life. I was thinking about going to a private school but I also looked into public schools. What I am worried about is my school rank. If I would stay in my charter school, I would easily become 2nd in my class. Next year I plan on having an un weighted gpa of 4.1425. I don’t know how it would rank with the public school students. I fear that I will attend the public school and lose my rank and never get back up. My current schools class has 200 students per class and the public school has about 1,000 per class. My school also does not offer very good sport opportunities. The football coach is the coach for every sport and since I do track, I wanted to do cross country which they don’t offer. The public school offer more AP classes, sports, and clubs while my charter school cares only about stats and offers little AP classes. I need help soon b/c I can still register to the public school but it must end soon. Thank you for those who answer.

It seems like the public school has better options for you. Don’t hold yourself back from the school due to class rank- your transcript and GPA are more important.

Sounds like you will be better prepared for college at the public school.

Public school!

Some kids might think that “babying” is “support” and might need that. You might not.
For most people , school rank isn’t as important as the additional AP classes and opportunities.
However, for Univ of Texas schools, rank is important for auto admits. Also it is important for Service Academies.
Talk to your parents about what they think. Talk to them about the AP classes you are interested in.

Thank you to everyone who replied. Hopefully I’ll be attending the public school next year for sophomore year and my classes will be…
