Should I not apply to these schools?

I currently have brandeis, villanova, George washington, and u Texas Austin listed as reaches. But I'm not sure if I have a reasonable shot at them. What are my chances? Should I even bother applying?

GPA unweighted: about 3.8-3.9
GPA Weighted: 4.1563
Class Rank: top 10 out of about 550 students

SAT (only taken once without really studying, plan on taking again):
1820 (CR: 600 M: 600 W: 620)

SAT II (might retake, if necessary):
Biology: 740 World History: 640 Math 2: 580
(probably won't submit math (and history if it seems too low) score unless I retake and do better, or if I have to)

ACT: have not taken*

AP Exams:
Biology: 5
Statistics: senior year
Chemistry: senior year
Calculus: senior year

High School: fairly decent suburban high school, many well-qualified students (usually a handful of students that get into top notch schools every year)

Classes: have taken honors at all possible opportunities, except one time in freshman year.*
So far: 15 honors classes, 1 AP class (full-year), 5 elective/required classes, 4 foreign language classes.*
Senior year (not final): 3 AP classes, 2 electives*

Grades: roughly 18 A and 6 A-.....as of the end of junior year, I have never got anything under an A-

Extracurricular Activities:
Recreational soccer (since sophomore year)
Youth group (since freshman year, but skipped junior year)
Hindi school (same as youth group)
Dartmouth Community Medical Lectures (since sophomore year)
Debate Team (sophomore year only)
Free Thinkers Club (junior year only)

Community Service/Volunteer:
Tutored other students through peer tutoring program at school
Idk if this counts but I volunteered during 2008 presidential campaign (held up signs, went door-to-door, stuff like that)
Not much else....this is one of my weak (if not the weakest) areas....Idk maybe I'll try volunteering at a hospital in the fall or key club or something just so I can add a little strength

Honors:
National Honor Society
1st place in Western New England College Competition
St. Anselm Book Award*
Best Model UN Delegate
High Honors Roll
Perfect attendance....?

Summer:*
Rec Soccer (Junior year)
Tennis Camp (sophomore year)

Also, I have some credits from a local community college

Ethnicity: Indian (of the South Asian variety, not Native American)

Location: NH

Someone respond please

UT: If you’re in state, you have automatic acceptance to University of Texas. I am in state, but from what I understand, it is very difficult to get into out-of-state. There is nowhere NEAR enough room for the Texas students, much less out of staters. To be honest, your SAT scores/SAT II are very low for UT. Your ECs and volunteer don’t stand out enough to make up for the lower standardized test scores… Unless there is a specific reason/program that you like at UT, I think your chances there are going to be slim.

GW: George Washington is a reach but if you write great essays, I definitely think it’s worth applying to!

Villa: Your scores are low for this school… gunna need some wicked awesome essays for this one.

Brandeis: A reach but I think it’s worth applying to.

I think these colleges are a bit of a reach for you and definitely think you should apply to safer schools. Not that one or more of these colleges won’t accept you - your class rank is great and GPA is good - but you’re on the low end of the statistical numbers for them.

Ok all this being said, it’s just my opinion! If one or heck, all, of these school really appeal to you and you could see yourself LOVING them, then apply!!! Since they are tough though, make sure you’ve got safeties that would make you happy lined up.

*sidenote: try the ACT!!! you may do much better on that.

Good luck!! And definitely don’t get down on this, if your heart is set, apply and see what happens :D

From what I understand, UT lowered the class rank needed for automatic admission from 10% to 8%, thus opening up quite a bit of space for out of state students.

The admission percentage is virtually the same for in-state and OOS (roughly 45%). The reason (other than the 8% rule) that 90-sum percent of the students are TX residents is because about 90-sum percent of the applicants are in-state. So don’t be mislead- the chances are about the same.

Yeah, alright

Anymore input pls

Bumpity bump bump

Maybe a shot at GW, but all the others are reaches.
However, I do know that Brandeis really values interest and an ED application can really make a big difference. If your seriously considering Brandeis, you might want to think about boosting your chances by applying ED.

i dont think i could commit ED to brandeis
