Hey guys,
My situation is that my course schedule that I ended up receiving for this current semester is slightly different from from the schedule I listed on the Common App. I had to drop one of my classes since two of the classes I wanted to take occupied the same time slot. I asked my counselor if I should email every single college I applied to in order to notify them of this small change, but she said it was unnecessary since they know that schedule changes happen all the time.
So is it dishonest for me to have a more rigorous schedule listed on my Common App than I actually have? I did mention in the Additional Information section that there was a chance I couldn’t obtain my desired schedule due to schedule conflicts, if that helps at all. What should I do?
I don’t think that your counselor is correct. I think you need to notify all of the colleges. It’s not hard to do, just send an email to each of your regional admissions officers (if one is listed) or to the main admissions email address. You just want them to have a record that you notified them, but since you’re sending the email, you can take the opportunity to reiterate how much you want to go to that school.
I contacted each college and some said to upload your change onto the applicant portal. Best to just make a word document stating the changes and upload it to the status portal.
Since it’s an academic course, you need to notify them. If it was a non-academic elective, it would be fine not to (from my experience and what my counselors have said).
@KrazyKing5461 Notify the admission officers immediately
Thanks for the advice! I’ve done it.
