For months i have been doing cc, and I have read lots of threads where posters posted about a certain letter where colleges told them indirectly that have been in admitted to that desired college...For example there was post where a gilr was in borderline to getting in UCB, and one where the person got in Lehigh.....however i have applied to both theses colleges, but never had gotten such letters...and im 29 days away from recieving my decisions............does this mean i probably didnt get in?...colleges already ndirectly notified people who got in because they want them to go to their colleges and people who didnt get in were not notified, they just can find it out in the mail....is this something thats very common?

no, they only send them to a few people. They're trying to rercruit the best and the brightest, who might be more inclined to choose a more highly ranked school or whatever. Duke only sends out about 300, but they accept 3000. So don't worry. Feel free to panic anyway, though. Just don't hit any walls or anything.

bump..............................any more feedbacks???????

from what I understand, UCLA never sends anything out anyway

wow, hey sorry in my mind i was still posting on the UCLA thread...

Yes, some colleges send letters indicating that the person is likely to be accepted. This is done in order to create a feeling of good will on the part of the applicant so that they will be more likely to actually attend when the time comes. They are sometimes called "likely letters." Such indications are only given to auto accepts and not all colleges do it. I think it would be rare for large public schools to bother with it (IMO).

i JUST FOUND OUT that ucb recinds if you have a c or d..............what the heck......................i hate have cs in math physics and english..........hate english, and just dont feel like studying for math and physics because teacher are scumbags...............I REALLY SHOULD PANICKING NOW SHOULDNT I???....time to go hit my head in th wall and pass out
