Should I Pay for a rescore for Math I???

Hello I received my scores this morning just like all of you and I got a 700 in Bio (felt good about that one, expected a little higher), 620 in chem (wasnt ready for it but w/e), and a 560 in Math I. I felt the best about the math test when I left the test center. I thought it was the easiest test ever. I thought I got maybe 2-3 wrong and on SAT 1 math I score 600-700s. Should I ask for a hand score?? This score very much surprised me.

I would just take Math II…but if your heart desires a rescore, go for it.

Well I will be a senior and Algebra 2 is the highest math I have taken so Math 2 probably wouldn’t work.

I also read in another post on here that 1/3 of all hand scoring requests results in a positive change for the SAT

I think il do it

anyone here have experiences with re scoring they wish to share?

ya rescore duude if you thought you did way better than that there must be something wrong.

yeah, in March I took Math II and felt great about it as I walked out the door. I expected high 700s if not an 800, and was shocked to receive a 660. I had it rescored but the score remained the same. I’m convinced that I made a bubbling error, though my dad thinks I was just overconfident. In any case, after about a week of studying I took the June SAT Math II and got an 800. I guess I’ll never know whether the first Math II was legit.

Back to you–I think you should get it rescored because you could save yourself studying time and test taking time. But remember two things

 1. you may have made a scantron error that the rescorers can’t remedy because it’d be doing “too much work” for you.
 2. the Math I curve is famous for being UNFORGIVING. even if you did get a 560, you didn’t necessarily get that many questions wrong.

hm I’m debating doing this also because I got 660 on chem but I was sure I got 710+ (may not be a huge difference but I’m definitely shocked…) plus $50 is a lot of money when I could retake it for less… @MissRoark, how long does it take them to get back to u?

Funny. My D is in a bit of the same boat.

8th grade SAT math was 670
11th grade PSAT math was 74
11th grade SAT math was 740
Still waiting on last week’s ACT, but did at least finish them all.
Took SAT IIs this week: Lit 780

And SAT II Math 1 ? - 620.

But…she was nervous for some reason the night before. We get back what we put out there. It’s just an oddity.

well I wanted to wait until score reports come out to decide. do score reports come with the test or do they have to be ordered separately?

I remember waiting about two weeks before hearing back from collegeboard

Can someone link me to the re-scoring information?

I took Math 1 as well and got a 650! I was so surprised…I expected to get at least a 700. And it was the same with other people I know–expected much higher scores and didn’t even break 700. For Math II, if you haven’t learned precalc yet is it easy enough to teach yourself the concepts that you don’t know? Because I flipped through the PR Math 1 and Math 2, and some stuff that is considered Math II only are what I definitely learned in Alg 2/Trig (It’s honors) and stuff that I was very strong at, and what I haven’t covered yet seems to be very little
