Should I pay my enrollment deposit now? (for housing)

So there is about an 70% chance I’m attending UT Austin. The results from other schools are coming soon, but I want to make sure I’m not forgetting anything important in case I attend UT. I’m primarily concerned about housing - I payed the $50 housing fee in December (when I got accepted) but a lot of people seem to already have their housing contracts… Is paying the housing fee enough or do I have to submit my housing contracts in order to get priority picks for the dorm I want? Is there any advantage to paying the $200 in advance?

@RamenUniversity You’re good for now. The date you originally applied for housing is the date UT will use to make residence hall assignments. Here is some housing info that I posted previously.

Residence hall and room assignments are made based on the date you completed your housing application.

Housing FAQs are here:

The enrollment deposit is refundable until May 1. One important thing to note: You will need to accept the offer of admission to register for orientation. Registration opens on March 10 this year and some dates fill very fast (within a few hours!). Mark your calendar now!

After you accept the UT offer of admission, you will be eligible to receive a housing contract. You may cancel your housing contract prior to Mooov-In, but the advance payment is refundable only to admitted freshmen who decide not to enroll at the university and decline their offer of admission no later than May 1. Students who choose to attend UT and live off-campus are not eligible for a refund of their advance payment.

UT redesigned the Be a Longhorn website last year and it’s really hard to find things now. Hope this information helps someone. Good luck and Hook 'em!
