Hello!-
I am wondering whether I should pay the enrollment deposit and orientation fee now or after I have received decisions from other schools? My friends and I have decided to attend the orientation together, but the orientation date seems to be filled up pretty quickly. I don’t want to be the one to pull my friends back and make them do the late orientation date, but I also don’t want to be alone during the orientation.Should I pay my enrollment deposit and orientation fee now or after April 1, when I have received my decisions from other schools? Also, if I pay my enrollment deposit now, am I going to be offer the housing contract immediately? If so, what will happen if I don’t sign the contract before the expiration date? Are those fees refundable? I also receive the presidential scholarship, which covers 5000 dollars a year, so is it possible for them to use the scholarship as my enrollment deposit and other fees. Thx.
What are your other schools?
If you’re not 100% sure you want to go to UT, wait for decisions from other schools
Depends on when you applied for housing, if you applied early, yes, housing contract comes within a few days after you paid the enrollment deposit. Some people waited for a few weeks and their contracts still have not arrived, probably because they applied pretty late.
For orientation, the earlier slots are usually more popular in general. However, there might be slots re-opened even though it has been filed up, because students might re-schedule.
So, I would say if you are not likely going to UT, wait for the other decisions, unless you have extra $777 ($200 enrollment + $300 housing + $277 orientation ) that you won’t mind losing. I have to point out that I don’t know the refund policy. Maybe you can have some of those refund to you if eventually you are not attending UT
The registration fees mentioned above ($200 enrollment + $300 housing prepayment + $277 orientation) are all refundable if you decide not to attend UT. Keep in mind there are guidelines you must follow when canceling (like deadlines) to get your money refunded.
Does anyone know if any of the earlier orientation sessions are already full?
@bookmom7 only the first session is full (June 6-8). Looks like there are plenty of availablity for all the others.
Thanks for the info @bellatrixie2
