Should I Play?

I think someone may have asked asked a similar question in the admissions thread... but, I think my situation may be a bit different. I have played softball my entire life, but I quit playing at my high school after soph. year (political BS, etc.) To me, playing has never been about putting it on my college application, though, I still play on a very competitive summer team. I'm going to be a senior this year, and I'm trying to decide if I want to play - I'm literally down to less than twenty four hours to decide. I love the game, but I'm not sure if I can handle all of the politics involved at my school (even though I was told I'd be starting at the position I love if I play). Another worry of mine regards college applications. I have a pretty heavy load of courses, and I still have to study for SATIIs and the ACT a little more. Add that to essays, asking for rec letters, and everything else, I'm worried that it may be a little too much to handle. Lastly, I'm middle / low-income, and I do NEED to work to help support my family. I could work my schedule around softball, but that would mean practice / games until 6pm and work from 7 - 1 AM sometimes. Again, not sure if it's worth it. Something that is pushing me in the direction of playing would be my parents, too. Don't get me wrong, they're not the crazy, ivy obsessed parents... they just love seeing me play. My mom is sick, and my dad works a really hard job to support us. I feel bad because they have really tried their best to give me every opportunity in the world... I almost feel like I owe it to them. BTW - I do love the game. Please help!

If you really love the game, you should play since it’s your last year in high school. And if you really wanted it, I think you can get stellar grades too. It’ll be hard though
