So I know sports are important for college apps, but here is my situation. I would really appreciate some advice.

I've been on my school's varsity snowboarding team for 3 years, though I haven't really qualified for states or anything like that. I really enjoy snowboarding, though I may not be the best. I've also been playing on JV lacrosse for 3 years.

When I started freshman year, I really liked lacrosse and thought it was fun. Lately, however, I realize I don't really have the time to stay committed to the sport, not to mention it's no longer as fun for me. Most of the other juniors I played with before are now on Varsity, but I'm on JV because I missed tryouts and had issues with the time commitment. This makes practices and games even less fun, since the majority of the JV team this year is comprised of freshman and sophomores, and newbies. I MIGHT be JV Captain though, if I stay on the team this year.

Also, I bit off more than I could chew academically, and my grades kind of dropped a bit last marking period. I really need to get stellar grades this marking period to pull off a good GPA, for the colleges I want to apply to. Should I quit lacrosse this season, in order to bring my grades up? I'd have 3 more hours every night to study/sleep/get homework done.

I just don't want colleges to think I can't manage my time or something, because I quit lacrosse. I know it looks better to stick with a sport through high school, but at the same time, I need to bring my grades up.

I do have other ECs, primarily science research and newspaper.

Thank you, I appreciate your help.
