Should I put down a housing and enrollment deposit if DS is 80% sure he wants to go to Temple?

OK, here is our situation. My son is fairly certain he wants to attend Temple, but is not 100% there yet. We are waiting on a financial aid offer from one school, and a final admissions decision from another.

I am worried that if my son attends Temple, he will not get a decent room unless I put down the housing and enrollment deposit now. My understanding is that the housing deposit is refundable, but the enrollment deposit is not, and that is OK with me - I can take the risk of losing $200 if my son ends up enrolling somewhere else.

But I have a question: If I put down an enrollment deposit, will other schools find out about it? Will I mess up my son’s chances of acceptance and financial aid at other schools if I put down a Temple enrollment deposit now?

Wondering same thing – different school but deadline is March 1 for “housing preference”. But still waiting on decisions at the end of March.

I talked to school and they told me that students pull out of the housing if they change their decision, and it wouldn’t cause any problems – they just add in the later enrollees into the dorms.

But it feels wrong . . .
