Should I put down my race (being white) on college apps?

<p>First name sounds African American, but last name could be Indian/Pakistani/Middle Eastern.</p>

<p>Well depends on what you’re trying to acomplish here. If that is your name, they will assume that you are the ethnicity of your last name. They know first names vary wildly. So they will assume (if they even bother assuming in the first place) that you are Indian/Pakistani/Middle Eastern, none of which will help you in admissions.</p>

<p>Are you African American? If so, mark that off.</p>

<p>haha yep that is true. sometimes I wonder how people come upon threads so old in the first place. I guess through the search box or something.</p>
