Should I put extremely high IQ society on my college application?

BTW about a week ago the NY Times had an article about schools using the SAT to measure intelligence.

A week ago was 2011 and 2014?

Sort of like making a big deal of being in the DAR, Mayflower Society, or another “look at my entitlement” organization. Join such an organization because you like the people, it gives you good discounts at museums, they have a nice magazine, whatever.

Intelligence is like height, we’ve told our kids. It’s a thing that you were given; use it at will, but make a fuss over it at your peril.

Use this membership the same way you’d use the sentence “I’m two meters tall, you diminutive human.” Most of the time it will hurt more than it helps.

I would do what has been said here: http://www.highiqforum.com/threads/should-you-claim-a-high-iq-on-a-college-application.1002/

Yes, absolutely ! MENSA is a well recognized society. My D1 had it on her college apps. She was asked about it in a few interviews. She got accepted at Harvard and a couple of other Ivies. She is at Pitt Med now (she was one of the 10 GAP students selected by Pitt for that year). But be prepared to answer questions such as how MENSA has helped you and how has that enabled you to help others, during the interviews. Good luck !

I would try to put other things first but if you still have space after putting the rest of your awards/honors or ECs I don’t see why not to put it; I don’t think it will hurt

I say yes but I am not an expert. I think it is impressive and since I cannot say I am a member I think it is cool.
