Back in 8th grade, I got to the TV round of the National Spelling Bee (pretty awesome experience) and placed fairly well at the National MathCounts competition. Being one of only 4 people to qualify for both of the competitions, I feel like that was a pretty big accomplishment. But, in the college application process, I am only asked what I did in 9th-12th grade. Should I put my NSB and NMC awards on my application? And if yes, then how?

Sorry, no, leave them out (BTW, my daughter was in the spelling bee with you)

If I were an adcom, here is what I would be thinking “well, great, but what has he done in High School?” If the answer is not much, then you peaked as an 8th grader - which does not sound good. If you did go on to do great things, then the 8th grade accomplishment is just lost in the noise. I assume if you did well in MCs, then maybe you have some good AMC/AIME and maybe even USAMO glory?

OTOH, if you want you can work it into an essay, but even so…
