Should I put UBC on my college list?

Hey all. So far I’m an incoming junior and I’m just starting to compile a list of colleges that I will consider applying to next summer. You guys think UBC is something worth putting on my list if I want a bioscience major? Also, chances of financial aid?

GPA: 4.0 uw (will probably decrease with junior year, estimating around 3.8) , 4.17 weighted
ACT: 35 composite (35 eng, 35 math, 34 reading, 36 science) and 10 on writing.
APs: Biology (5) and Psychology (5)
No class ranking.
ECs: Will be co-prez for a club we’re launching this year (so I’m not sure how it will go yet.) and that’s about it…
And as a sidenote I will probably not get rec letters that are too well-written because many of the teachers at my school are not great or have a reputation for writing very lazy rec letters…lol…

So I know that I’m pretty academically strong, but extremely weak in terms of EC. Would this be a huge deterrent? And also, do you think I’d have any chance at a scholarship?

Then an unrelated question: I’ve lived in Taiwan before and after I moved here, I have lived in an Asian-majority area. Are there a lot of asians (specifically Mandarin-speaing students) in UBC? I don’t think I could adjust very well without many asians nearby. Thanks guys!!

You won’t have a hard time finding an Asian community if you go to UBC

Agree with @shawnspencer . You will have plenty of people at UBC and in Vancouver that will ease your adjustment. As for your credentials, you have a great chance of a major entry scholarship.
