Should I quit band?

I’m currently a sophomore in high school and plan on taking 5 AP Classes next year as a junior (Language and composition, Calculus, Physics, US History, and French). However my Varsity Band class would fall during the same period as AP French. I am not as enthusiastic about band as I used to be and it’s starting to become much more of a drag than it is being fun. I am also a committed key club officer, am part of the swim team, as well as a handful of other clubs. I’m not really sure what I should do. Would it be worth it to quit band for Junior Year and then take AP French and then join band again my senior year? Or would this look bad on college applications in the future?

They probably wouldn’t see it as a bad thing if it’s a schedule conflict. If you really think that they would see it badly, ask your GC to highlight the scheduling conflict in their LOC. But honestly, I don’t think they will make a huge deal about it.

If you can’t do band because of a scheduling conflict it’s not going to look bad. As stated before, you can get your GC to highlight the scheduling conflict, but personally, I wouldn’t even worry about it. Plus if you drop it junior year and pick it back up senior year, I’m pretty sure adcoms would understand there would be a reason (if they even question it in the first place).
