Should I re-take my SAT Subject tests, or take the ACT instead?

I did some research and found that most colleges (including Ivy Leagues) don't require SAT Subject tests if you take the ACT with writing. If I choose to go with the SAT, they require 2 to 3 Subject tests along with the regular SAT. My problem is that I have a 2200 on the SAT, which is a pretty good score, but my Subject tests are horrible (710 on Spanish and 690 on Chem). So my question is, should I retake the Chem subject test (I can't retake Spanish because it's been over a year since I've been in that class!), or should I just ditch the SAT road altogether and just aim for the ACT? My only problem with the ACT is that I really like my score of 2200 on the SAT

This might be an overwhelming answer, but I would suggest that you pursue BOTH the Chem SAT subject test and the ACT. It’s not unusual for students to submit both SAT, ACT, and subject test scores to play up your different strengths. If you retake the Chem subject test and it doesn’t go well, you still have really strong SAT scores to back up your ACT, and the subject tests won’t be required because you have ACT w/ writing.

My daughter made a 32 on ACT and just took Math 1 and Bio M- scored 690 on both which counselor said was strong for her-she isn’t applying to any schools that require the subject tests- but we now have them- She may take SAT in fall but the 32 is accepted at all schools that she will apply to in the fall.

Catlinjon,
That’s what I was thinking of doing at first, but then realized how much studying that would be to prepare for all those tests…I’m already a junior and will start applying “early action” this August or September, so I don’t know if I have enough time to take both the ACT and the Subject tests.
