Should I really...

I am looking to apply to Master of Education programs with an emphasis in School Counseling (K-12/High School) in Los Angeles.

UCLA looks to be a reach and USC, a target.

Which programs offer a campus life and a sound program with good career prospects in LA and possibly throughout California?

Is it worth going to a private school (USC) and have debt (with the Trojan Alumni Network) rather than a Cal State University? (Northridge, Long Beach, etc.)
Do Cal States have good alumni connections?

USC is quite expensive compared to a Cal State. However, the only real way to answer your question would be to ask the Education departments from each of the schools where their graduates work after graduation. This information is usually used to sell people on the school, therefore it should be readily available.
I am not in the Education field, but know someone who went to UCLA’s masters of Ed program and don’t think it is much more difficult to get into than USC. At least the requirements are the same.
