should i rebel against my high school? D:

My high school is very controlling when it comes to the college application process. They have a very specific procedure on getting letters of recommendations/secondary school reports, etc....and one thing they absolutely require is that if we are applying to a university that uses the common app, it MUST MUST MUST be submitted online.
My guidance counselor said she'll ONLY fill out secondary school report online.

But personally, I don't want to submit it online. Because
1) I think the online forms are a tad inflexible
2) I have to send in different supplementary materials (ie: cover letter, art portfolio that will be mailed, and abstract of a research paper I wrote)
3) my computer sucks!
4) I like keeping all the forms together where I can physically see it.

My question is, can I opt out of applying online and send in the paper forms instead, and let my guidance counselor send in the forms online (mixing and matching??)? I know this question is usually reversed, in that the teachers/glc's usually want to send the paper forms haha

Please help! =( Thanks!

I don’t know if you can mix and match, but colleges really prefer you apply online. It’s a lot easier for them to process. And I wouldn’t want to do anything to **** off the school admissions unless I have to (i.e. have no access to a computer).

jpei,

No, you cannot submit the Common Application on paper while your counselor and teachers submit their materials online. The colleges to which you are applying will only receive your school forms after you submit the Common App Online to those colleges. Thus, if you never submit the Common App Online, your school forms will never reach the colleges.

This is the wrong fight. Beg, borrow, or steal a better computer. Submit online.

I think MacGyver’s right. If it isn’t part of the required application, though, I’m pretty sure you can submit supplementary stuff by mail even if the rest of your app is online (as long as it’s clearly labeled with your name, contact, and school information). The Common App itself has an option for most schools (all schools?) to submit the Optional Arts Supplement via mail even though the rest of the app is online, so probably the same applies to your research paper as well.
