I want to major in mechanical engineering and I have always been a B+/A- student in math and I’m worried since I haven’t taken calculus im going to be behind. I’ve taken the basic algebra classes, pre calculus and geometrey. Trig was briefly covered in geometrey. Honestly I don’t remember much besides Pythagorean theorem and sine, cosine, tangent. Am I screwed?
There is a reason that engineering curricula include the calculus sequence in them; they don’t assume that you have taken calculus before college. Now, probably the majority of students these days have some exposure to it, but most still start in Calculus I their first semester, so you shouldn’t really be behind. Trigonometry ought to be covered in pre-calculus as well.
Pre-calculus for me is still in progress.
Right, so don’t write yourself off yet!
