I've been told two different things.

First person: hey, since it's free for the first 3 schools, send your scores. Don't give the CB a penny more than you have to. And if your scores aren't very good then you can have them sent all over again when you take the test a second time.

Second person: no way, do NOT send those scores. What happens if those scores are really bad? The colleges SAY they will take your best scores but they lie...If you have all 400's on the first go-round and then two months later you have all 700's , the school is going to go like: "What the $@#%!!? What is up with this dude, he must be cheating (on the second test) or high (on the first test)." Advice: pay the extra $$$ and wait until those scores come out.

Which way to go? I expect my scores will be in the 600's, no matter how much I prepr or not, I am pretty consistent.

I don’t have much experience so I won’t recommend which option you should choose, but if you do go from a 400 to a 700, that signals improvement and I would think that to be a good thing.

To play it safe, I would wait until the scores come out. You never know, your good feeling might turn out to be wrong. But then again, I am being pretty conservative about this.

In the end, its only a matter of $9 per school you want to send he scores to if you do good. You’ll make it all back after college.

If you´re not sure you are going to take them again, I would submit to schools on your list that reject score choice, because they will end up seeing all your scores anyway, and you may even get a bonus point for sending them directly. That way if you don´t need to take them again, at least you´ve saved yourself some money with these schools. You may not want to chance it with schools that only require scores from your best sitting.
