Should I report a 3?

I got an A- both semester in AP Chem and on tests I got a
3- AP CHEM Test
780- SAT Chem Subject test

Should I report the 3 to colleges? Would I be at a disadvantage if I didn't have an AP score? I'm planning to apply to Stanford, Princeton, Caltech, and UCLA

I wouldn’t report the 3.

tough luck dude, you prob knew the material but didn’t do as well on that test.

It’s kind of a catch-22, because if you report it, whatever grade you got in the class will seem more meaningless and like it was inflated, but if you don’t, they might assume you got a 1 or maybe a 2.

I can’t decide on a conclusive answer, but I can tell you that AP tests are far from the most important part of college applications.

YES! Every college I’ve talked to- including very big name schools- say report your scores. And a 3 IS passing the AP exam. You just aren’t given credit at some schools. As for the person talking about grade inflatation I have not heard of that until I’ve come on this forum. Don’t even worry about that- send the score. A 3 does look good- although it’s not a 4 or a 5… you passed the test.

I got a 3 on APUSH and I’m sending that to all my schools, as well as my 4 on English Lang

There is a bright student on CC who got a pair of 2’s on AP Chem and I believe Lit and still got into MIT. I would report the score.

yes you should

Hey thanks you guys! I probably will then because i feel like its probably better to report a score than to leave them guessing. And oh wow @bublubu that’s suprising!

Are you sending other AP scores? They would assume you did poorly if you only send certain scores.

i’ve only taken 2 other AP tests with 5’s and of course i’ll be sending in those :)

I think that you should as most colleges accept 3’s as credit. Even selective colleges would like to see you passed (you just won’t get credit)…Definate yes

Yeah. MIT and CIT don’t even accept chemistry.
