So just to give you a breakdown I want to know if I should report my (worse) SAT I and SAT II scores. I got a 2250 SAT I, and 740 on the Chemistry SAT II. I also got a 36 ACT and 800s on the Math II and Physics SAT IIs (obviously I want to report those). So clearly the 2250 and 740 are a bit subpar compared to the others, but the problem is that I already sent the scores to some colleges through the SATs free score sending service (too bad you have to finalize your list before you know what you’re going to get :(). Would it be okay to just leave those off the common app even if I already sent them to some schools?
Also, for the AP/IB section, if I’m taking an AP class this upcoming year and taking the exam in May, should I report that? I know they have “date planned” until 2016 so I should I just report that I plan to take it in 2016? Can I additionally report an exam if I want to self-study for it this year?
Thanks a bunch all!
Calling a 2250 and 740 “subpar” is both off-putting and disingenuous. Most applicants would be doing handstands with those scores.
As far as reporting them vs. not reporting; it’s your call. Personally, I would report them all; I think AO’s will pay more attention to the official score report than what is on the app and, if you apply to a school that requires all your scores to be sent, your app will match up to the score report.
Again, up to you; reporting AP scores is voluntary.
Yes
It depends on where you are applying: some colleges are score choice, meaning you pick which scores to send, and others are not score choice, meaning you need to submit ALL your scores from ALL your test dates. Cornell University, for example, is NOT score choice. They want to see it all. So you need to verify via the school’s policy on test scores to make sure you are following the rules that each college requires when it comes to reporting and sending scores.
For APs you can indicate “will take” if you are currently taking the class in senior year but will take the exam in May 2016. Yes, you can self-study and indicate you will plan to take a certain exam.
Thanks a lot for your help guys; I think I’m just going to report everything!
