Hey guys. I’m wondering if an interview truly helps bolster your application. I’ve seen plenty get in both with and without an interview, so i’m pretty ambivalent about asking for one. If it’s important, this is my profile:
-Test Scores: Good (1600 SAT CR/M, 2370 w/ writing, 35 ACT, 5s on six AP exams)
-GPA: subpar
-Class Rank: also subpar
-ECs: only significant one is prolific success as a high school rower. 3 appearances at nationals. Other than that not much other than small volunteering & a couple music things.
-Recs: first teacher 9/10 other probably worse 7/10 counselor’s was generic 6/10
-Essays: very very good. unique. common app: 9/10 extended response: 10/10 why uchic: 8/10
-i’m white, male, high income
basically, I made myself seem suuuuper unique w/ my essays and whatnot, even by uchic standards, and I have good scores, decent ECs, and bad GPA/class rank (like way worse than most applicants). I want to know if an interview will actually increase my chances and compensate for weaknesses or something or if it is negligible in the admissions process. i’m a pretty social guy by the way.
idk someone help plz
