Should I request interview?

I just realized that I used my old phone number to fill in Application part I. Recently, all of my friends who applied to Columbia got contacted by interviewers. My question is: Should I call Columbia and schedule an interview? Do you think interview is really unimportant in the admission process as stated on the Columbia website?

For those who did the interviews, do you think the interview is a good/helpful experience one should take advantage of? Or were your interviews stressful and did not yield any positive experience?

Absolutely not. If you would like, you may e-mail them and tell them that you have a new phone number. But you should not request an interview. I know plenty of Columbians (including myself) who were not granted an interview and were still admitted.

Everyone I know got an email

My friends were called one week ago. Will the interviewer email me if he(she) cannot call me?

1) pnp no you wont be called to be told you can’t be interviewed, only if you can be interviewed.
2) you can’t request an interview, columbia says as much on its website.

what if they don’t offer interviews to intl students but i just moved to NY? Should I contact them or just let it go?

they do offer interviews to int’l students. just cannot guarentee in every country this will happen.

alma - when did you move to ny, at the beginning of your application? i think you could always contact columbia and as noted above you can ask them to update your address information (this is what would then possibly update you in the alumni lists), but that by itself wont guarentee you will be assigned in time.

i moved to NY on Jan 7th. So I had already submitted everything…

oh gosh i’ve been contacted for an interview today. In Italy!! Should I ask for a phone interview? Is it possible?

So you’re in New York, but your interviewer’s in Italy? Then yes, I’d e-mail him or her and ask if you can do a phone interview, unless he’ll be in New York or you’ll be in Italy any time soon.
