should i retake (600) or just go with it?

like most of the people, I got my SAT II physics score and it is 610 (I know I am stupid).

I have 790 in ML2 and 2280 SAT. Should I retake to increase this score or university will think, "this kid is score obsessed, he retakes for one subject test, give him a rejection letter"

*I am already depressed. i was scoring in the 760-780 zone, please don't make any bitter comment. I have As in the physics during high school years if that resonates for my dumbness :(

Far cry, I would take it again. It seems to have been a fluke low score.

I’m usually the first to warn against score obsession, but that’s when someone wants to retake a 760. I don’t think anyone will askance at a retest.

Don’t be depressed or consider yourself dumb. It’s just one score from one day on one test. Dumb takes longer :-)

I might got carried away by the math after finishing it. the ugly part is that 5 of my schools require SAT IIs (Princeton, Yale, Duke, Tufts, Upenn) and all of them “consider” the jan. score (i am applying this year.)

but I think when the university get the score from jan. SAT (around 12th feb.), my application going to be already in the rejection pool. if it was just 700, i wouldn’t retake.

but the question is, will it break the application?

It won’t break it any more than an 800 would make it.

A 610 is very low for physics, in the 31-percentile. Consider taking a different exam maybe.

Retake Physics and another science exam to show that the Nov. test was a fluke.
Your application will not “already be in the reject pile” because of ONE score.

@MYOS1634 thanks. I am registering for January test date (Physics and Chemistry). I hope they understand.

@Pancaked . I can’t :frowning: physics has always been my major interest but this time, maybe I was nervous or excited (I got over 720 in every practice tests I took. even from barron’s). I am not sure why i got that score. but yeah, I am taking physics+chemistry. I hope they don’t take my application in the rejection pool before January scores.

Definitely retake. Good luck.

There should be a place on your application to indicate that you’ll be testing in January. As long as you provide schools with that test date, they won’t review your app until they receive those scores.
