Should I retake 740 in Math II or 720 in History?

I'm planning on applying to schools like Brown, Boston College, and Smith.

Do you think I should retake either one or both?

Thanks.

No, those are great scores.

retake the math for brown.

How many did you get wrong to have a 740?

what are you planning on majoring in? if you’re going to have a stronger focus in history or history related subjects, i’d retake history. if you’re planning on going into math or science, retake the math.
but honestly, both scores are already really good

I’d retake Math II for sure. Probably not History, though.

I’m planning on majoring in polisci, psychology, or sociology.

By the way, thanks!

Depend if you have time to restudy. Also if you’ve alrready taken SAT 1.oterwise ud be taking that october rite?
If you have an amazing CV then you shouldnt be too worried about your scorres coz theyre decent. However if your CV is nothing great then a really good score would make it look good.It all depends…

if you’re thinking about majoring in poli sci then definitely retake U.S. instead of Math II

@college4three, they are decent scores not great scores. You have to realize there is a 10 or so question curve.

I would retake both. A 720 on US history is good, but if you could aim for 750+ that would be great. As for math, a lot of people generally take it and 740 is not that good. 11% of people who take the math 2 get a perfect score. I know my tone might be offset as a little negative, but I am trying to be as honest as possible.

Only thing you have to remember there is that you’re not dealing with 11% of the general population getting a perfect score; probably only the top ~5-10% of students in the country (if that, I know nobody from my school does) even take subject tests, so being in the top say 20% of that small group is not bad.

A 740 on IIC / 720 USH isn’t going to hold you back from getting admitted anywhere, but it’s also not going to be a particularly strong part of your application. So if you’re relying on good test scores, retake, if the rest of your application is your strength then I wouldn’t worry.

Whoa. People on here are crazy. You broke 700, good freaking job!

Ugh, I’m in the same boat. I got a 720 on US History and a 750 on Math II. I haven’t studied, but I’m taking Math again tomorrow, I think. It’s too late for me to do US History again, I took the class over a year ago.

I took Math II because I have four Cs in math starting 9th grade. My counselor said getting a high score on it would prove that I don’t suck at math that much. This year my grade in Math has been better, but I don’t really think I can get a higher score in Math II.

I mainly want to major in Sociology, do I need a high SAT II history score for that?

Does Collegeboard tell you how many you got wrong? When I went to website and I didn’t see anything about the no. of questions I got wrong .

Test scores are def. going to be my strength. GPA is 3.3, SAT superscore is 2230. I’m counting on SAT, ecs, essays, and teacher recs.

ARGH! I’m getting nervous!

You guys think I should take History again in October? Because I was kind of planning on taking SATI again.

Thanks for all your help so far!
