Should I retake a 1450 ?

Hey guys, International student here.
I got my Oct 6th SAT scores really late ( today )
I got a 1450 ( 670 EBRW + 780 maths )
I registered for the Dec SAT a few days before because I had no idea of how my scores were going to be like.
Should I switch the Dec SAT test to Subject tests ( math 1 + lit ) ( already got good scores in math 2 and chem ) ?
Or should I stick with the SAT and try to get over 1470?
I am slightly disappointed with my Math score as I used to get 790s and 800s in most of the practise tests.

You want to be near the middle 50th Percentile of the SAT scores of the colleges that you are applying. If you are not there I would suggest retaking the SAT. If you are already in the middle 50th percentile it would be more useful spending that time focussing on taking an extracurricular to the next level.

@fromDaBay will it be an advantage being above the median SAT score? International student asking for a good amount of aid.

@SlansterPeach The higher you are above the median SAT score the better your chances.

To which US colleges & universities are you applying ? What do you plan to study ?

Just read your prior posts. No need to retake as you have improved from your prior SAT score of 1420. What was your math score on the prior test ?

Will you be applying to Kenyon College & Hamilton College again ? Are you considering Grinnell College ? Any other schools ?

Not the median. You want to be near the 75th percentile and match in other ways, as well. Rather than fuss over the 780 not being higher, you should be concerned about the 670, where it falls in a college’s stats. For Hamilton, as one example, a mid 50% at 1430-1520.

Very competitive for international applicants and your country matters. Need aware for intl. The decision to retake depends on your other targets, how well you understand your full match.

Are you a senior? If so, I think you should be done. If you’re a junior, focus on academics and try again in the spring.

@Publisher yes I am applying to all of these colleges

@MusakParent I am on a gap year.

@lookingforward Are US colleges lenient on an int. student’s English score? English isn’t my first language.

What are your A level results?

@Sybylla
2A* 3A ( one A in an AS level subject )
Taken the most rigorous courses available

Also, I forgot to add. I was waitlisted at Kenyon and Bowdoin as well. But flat rejections from Grinnell, Middlebury, Davidson and a few others.

@SlansterPeach

As you already have two good SAT subject test scores, I see no reason to take any more. (BTW, you’ve already taken Math II; It makes no sense to take Math I ). I believe that only Georgetown recommends 3 subject tests.

I would retake the SAT and focus on the reading/writing section.

There is little difference between a 780 and 800 on the math section of the SAT I. No reason to be upset about that.

It all depends on the colleges you are applying to. Try retaking
