Super scored I have a 700 CR /760M/790W from two sittings. Highest sitting was 2230. My CR score improved 40 points compared to my nov. score. Should I retake this if I'm planning on applying ED to either Johns Hopkins or Dartmouth? I'm also considering Tufts, Cornell, Michigan, and a few other similar level schools.

I’d give it a shot but be prepared to cancel. You don’t want to go down, but if you could get your CR close to or above 700 your chances would be improved.

Well, here’s the deal. Your score is right in the wheelhouse of some of these colleges, and a 2250 is without a doubt a good score. However, if you think you can improve measurably on this (most of all your critical reading; in math, goofing up a pair of questions could land you back at a 760 or easily worse, and a 10 point improvement in writing isn’t going to be worth the effort), go for it. I retook a 2260 (780 CR, 750 M, and 730 (73–10) W) and gained 90 points (20 in CR and 70 in Writing; seriously, I hate SAT I Math), so it’s certainly possible to go up in score.

Edit: Congratulations on a great score, though! A 2250 is an accomplishment on its own, especially since it sounds like you’ve worked fairly hard to get there. Keep on it!
