Should I retake a 2310 SAT I?

780 CR 770 M 760 W with 12 essay.
This was my second time taking it - first time was in junior year and got 2010. Aiming for HYPS as well as other top colleges. Do you think I should retake?

Anyonneeee?

Not worth the time or money. A higher score will mean nothing with regards to admissions to any school in the country.

Good luck.

@bluebayou Thanks! I was leaning towards that as well.
Anyonee else?

2310!? That is fantastic score, don’t worry about it!
P.S. I’m jealous!

all 2300+ scores are fine.

no.

rest assured that HYPS&c. don’t accept students solely based on amazing test scores. your scores are more than satisfactory. ;P

students with perfect 2400’s near double their chance at admission.
This statistic was posted on here a few times. The difference between a 2400 and 2390 is huge, but a 2390 and 2310 is minor.

Given that you don’t have any weak subjects, I think you’ll be fine. Now if it was like 800 800 710, then you might want to. But I think you’ll be fine.

it’s really not worth it. you have a fantastic score so it seems like you’re all set. you should spend your time on other things and be happy with how well you were able to do :)

only if you believe you could do better.

It’s the number of 800’s that increase your chances. A 790 is no better than a 750, but a 800 blows a 790 away. Greedy colleges are trying to increase their rateings.

So do you guys think my chances would be significantly improved if i got, a 2360-2400?

I agree with the above. Your results are nicely balanced, and they show a good increase from the previous time you took the test.

Source, please? And be ready to separate those 800’s for 4.0 gpa’s uw. (The point is that no such data exists. A lot of those 800’s might also have superb transcripts, at least better than those <750 students.)

No doubt some are. But since only the mid-50% are reported, once one is above the 75th %, it doesn’t matter how much higher the applicant goes. (AP Stats)

800’s are reported…
Look at Stanford’s website for crying out loud.
[Applicant Profile : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)

This specifically shows that an 800 in writing has a great chance at admission; in comparison to an 800 in CR or M.

Nope. Don’t do it.

Nihility, you have to be careful to watch out for the lurking variable; although students with perfect writing may have a higher chance of entrance, it’s impossible to tell if it’s because of the writing score and not something else. To borrow a quote from last years valedictorian, “A good sat score won’t get you in, but a bad one will keep you out.” Personally, I’m a bit skeptical that scoring a perfect will suddenly boost your score significantly since there are simply so many other variables.

do not retake SAT.

number of 800s do NOT matter.
believe me, i know what i am talking about.

It’s rather naive to assume that because the acceptance rate for students with 800s is higher, one has a better chance of being accepted because one has has an 800.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc.
