does it look bad to retake a 790 to an admisssions officer, even if you get an 800???

yes, it seems like all you care about is your scores. they want to see more than that.

trrrooollll

this is such an obvious question i won’t even dignify it with an answer

stueydue - i too got a 790 and am NOT retaking. However, i may retake the SAT1 to bump up my writing score. Somebody suggested to me on another thread that i send in all my test scores in the fall (i am happy with all of them except writing, which is luckily the least important) before i retake. That way, i can retake the test without worrying that i will perform worse or make myself look bad. If the score improves, i can send it where i please. If it goes down, no harm done, my score reports are all already sent out. Does anybody know if this can actually be done? If so, and if you reeeeeaaaaaallllyyy want that 800 physics, you could give it a shot with no risk involved

haha, stueydue, i am in your same situation!
got 790 physics also :
i kinda wanted to retake since it’s only 89th percentile!
however, i’m deciding not to because it will look pretty obsessive, and to be honest i think it might hurt chances for college acceptance just because it looks so laughable, even if we do end up with 800s.
did you take the physics by itself during the sitting, or with other tests?
i took three tests in one day (800 math ii, 800 bio m) so i’m hoping colleges will take that into consideration.
dunno o.O

For the critical reading SAT, college board says:

Assuming the same holds true for a 10 point difference on an SAT subject test, what this means is even if you retake, a score of 800 would be, “considered to demonstrate the same level of ability”, as 790. With a score that high you really can’t show improvement.

swimmy: it sucks doesnt it only at the 89th percentile?? but no that was my only test that day, but i already have math level 2 from october (800)
standrews: thanks man thats cool to see something from collegeboard that works with this

why is it that everyone here wants to retake a test 750 and up?
please, save money and trees.

just shut up

right now

seriously.

Of course you need to retake it. A 790 isn’t going to cut it -anywhere-. Heck, an 800 isn’t going to cut it anymore either. At the bare minimum, you must get an 800 on the same subject test THREE TIMES IN A ROW. So not only should you retake your 790, you should retake it 3 times, assuming you can actually manage an 800 at each sitting.

Given your terrible, terrible score of 790, though, I’d say that’s a physical impossibility for you. Crappy community college, here you come!

oh, and are you asian?..

im indian… why???
