Hey everyone, I am currently a freshman at UCF majoring in mechanical engineering, currently i am taking calc 1 and doing not so great and may or may not pass, my reasons for struggling were because I didnt really know how to study for the class since i have zero experience with calculus and at the beginning of the semester i was dealing with some issues and wasnt 100% sure that i would still be at UCF for the spring semester, essentially i was distracted the first couple of weeks, but after doing poorly on the second exam i completely changed my studying habits and I am starting to understand the material much better, but my question is if i do end up passing calc 1 should i still retake it, will it help me in the long run if i took it again as an engineering major and understand the material better even though it looks bad to retake calculus as an engineering major. Thank You!
If you pass, I wouldn’t waste another semester redoing it. Just review over the summer on your own so you’re ready to jump into calc 2 in the fall.
im either retaking calc 1 or calc 2 over summer session which is twelve weeks so it wouldnt be to bad of a set back
There are plenty of ways to “re-take” Calc I for free – or at least the parts you feel you need to brush up on. The question is are you self-motivated enough to set yourself a schedule and get it done. If you feel you aren’t that disciplined, then perhaps retaking would be a good idea. Also, be sure to utilize the free resources on campus.
Good luck!
