Should I retake gen-chem if I am looking at PA schools?

I am starting school this fall and am already signed up to take gen chem 1. I took ap chem this past year and feel like i could have atleast gotten a 4 on the exam. I signed up for gen chem 1 because i thought it would be good to take it again before the MCAT(i was originally pre-med) but now i dont know if i should just skip it since PA schools dont require the MCAT. Any opinions are appreciated.

Your posting is very confusing. Are you a college freshman or a HS student. You mixed AP class results with Gen Chem I classes. Please clarify and start with your State, your schooling and GPA and such.

Also, PA schools require 300+ hours of clinical experiences during college years, what do you have to offer or planned?

@artloversplus sorry. ill be a freshman in fall. Should i use ap credit to get out of gen chem 1 if i am planning to go go to pa school? i am in florida

If your college allow you to skip GEN Chem I with AP, you might be able to replace it with a higher level class. But AP chem is not at the same level as college level chem, in order to build up your basis in knowledge, taking college level chem from the start is a good strategy. Besides, you only got a 4 in your AP class, rush into a higher level class is not wise. This is not a retake.

Here’s a list of all the PA programs with links to their admission requirements. Look at what your local colleges require.

In general, if you use AP credits for gen chem 1, you will need to supplement those AP credits additional semester of analytic or inorganic chemistry (with lab) for admission.

tl;dr–retaking gen chem 1 in college is fine if your college allows you to do so.
