Should I take Math IIC if I got 800 and 91st percentile...I like the score but not the percentile...Do the colleges even look at percentile/compare it with others???

Thanks,

I hope you are serious because I am giving you a serious answer. The math-2 test is ridiculously easy to score 800 on if one is good in math; thus there are many many 800s for this test, which is why your percentile is 91%. My Math-2 test I got 95th percentile with 800; my 800 in Chemistry was 90th percentile. So don't worry about it; it varies.

To address your concern;
-0 800 = Same Percentile
-5 800 = Same Percentile

Yes, retake it. It's in your best interest to waste but another Saturday on standardized testing. If you get an 800 again, I suggest you retake a third time, because your score could be better.

how did you get an 800 if you don't understand percentiles? dur...

All worlds of epic are contained within this post.

I believe you should because you can only score better.

Don't even bother. 91st percentile is fine, the percentile is a bit weird because of the many, many 800s.

Are you going for an 850 this time?

^ 850? Thats for sure rejection at all colleges in the world.

Retake it and pray that you can get a 950, or its off to community college for you. Get a 75 raw score ... out of 50 questions! That'll really impress adcoms.

It's a bit harsh to post my agreement with this statement, but, yeah, your percentile score just shows how many test-takers you outscored: about nine out of ten of them. Your time would be better spent now taking an AP statistics course.

LOL OR A 900!!! Because people NEVER make that joke on threads like these!!

but seriously, your 800 looks the same as anyone else's 800 no matter the percentile or number of points off.

Retaking an 800, lol. I've honestly never heard that one before.

What, of course! I got 801, and I'm gonna screw you out of your place in your dream college!

This brings up an interesting point. Collegeboard report gives the score and the percentile based on the score. The percentile information is really a repeat of the score information since they provide a chart mapping score to percentile. It would be more interesting if they based the percentile based on the raw score. If college just get the score it would not hurt anyone while the student gets an extra piece of information.

But the raw scores aren't comparable from one test form to another.

I'm sure College Board does validation studies of its standard scoring scale for each Subject Test, and there probably isn't any research basis for being more specific than the score report already is.

I took the Math 2c, and finished in 28 seconds, so I was put in the 100th percentile. I'm going to find all of the schools you're applying to and make sure you can't get in.

it goes without saying that I got everything right and got an 800

Oh, you guys make me laugh.
But seriously! This is too much. :)
