Should I retake my ACT?

I took the February ACT, and I went back a score. My counselor is recommending me to take the April ACT, but I must study for the AP US History exam (and I haven't even started! Our school only studies post-Civil War!)

So should I take the April or skip to take the June ACT?

In addition, I heard the April ACT has a better curve/easier questions. Is this true? Is the June ACT harder?

Thanks to all who reply to these threads. :O

My son took his ACT in June, after completing a grueling 8 AP tests in May, 4 of the subjects self-studied. After the AP-gauntlet, he found the ACT to be trivially easy. Based on his experience, I’d say June works quite well. Another consideration is that April would be in the middle of the term, and your other classes may have tests or papers due the week you would rather be doing your last prep review. By June, class is either over or effectively over as far as homework and tests are concerned.

All tests are normed to provide equal results – if this wasn’t done, word would soon get out and everyone would sign up for the “easy” exam. So if a given test has slightly easier questions, it will have a tougher curve, and vice versa. My son got a perfect 36.0 on the June test, so it’s by no means overly “killer.”

Even if there’s a difference between test dates, it’s not significant enough to make an impact.
