Should I retake my ACT?

31 Composite
33 Math
33 Reading
30 Writing
25 Science(I was sick and I just couldn't focus, I didn't finish a whole set of questions and straight bubbled B)

Would it be beneficial? If the colleges focus or math and reading the most then would it help at all to retake?

Thank you!

Which schools are you looking at?

A couple Ivies. Brown being the dream school. Basic overview: I am hispanic, have a really diverse background and great essays.

Edit: I’m looking at a bunch of schools but Brown is where I really want to go.

Yes you should definitely retake that ACT. If you were not feeling well that day, then there is hope that you could do even better when you are well. That 25 (just saying) will not look good if you intend on applying to Brown.

Well considering you’re URM, that ACT score definitely puts you on the competitive side for those schools (assuming you have a stellar GPA). However, it definitely would not hurt to take it one more time. I scored a 31 the first time I took it and after studying I scored a 34, which is a substantial increase that could factor in admissions. Also, you might want to consider taking the SAT just to see how well you will fare on that test.

Well I didn’t prepare at all the first time except for one practice test which I aced science on so I really don’t know what happened. I’ll prep for it this time.

Alihaq–are you a rising senior now? Or are you freshy in college? I haven’t seen you in a while. I forget

Retake it if Brown is your dream school.

redivorys: I am a rising senior. I haven’t been on in a while because I’ve been volunteering/summer work, etc. I’m also busy with the family because I came back to Illinois for the summer.

I would definitely retake the ACT in your case. I expect that you will get at least a 30 on the science section when you retake it, and probably a composite score of 33.
