Should I retake my C in Calculus?

I am currently a second semester sophomore in college. I took Calc I as a first semester freshman and unfortunately obtained a C because there was no curve and I did not study hard enough. At U of A we have a GRO program allowing you to retake up to three courses and replace your old course grades. However, Calc is very difficult at the university and is a lot of work, meaning I would have to take it with other time consuming science courses. I also need to take Calc II for my major which I plan on completing at a community college. My question is this, should I take the time and retake Calc at some point before applying to med school? The second option would be to take both Calc I and Calc II at community college to demonstrate my aptitude in the subject (the original C would remain in this instance). My third option is just to accept the grade and bring up my GPA. I am currently sitting at a 3.65 and have A's in both semesters of physics. What do you believe is the best option? Thanks! (The Calc I class is 5 credits of C)

If you can really, truly erase the C from your transcript, I think you clearly should go for it. But be careful. UA might be telling you you can "replace", which means that the original grade will still show but they won't use it in GPA calculations. In that event, do not retake, since AMCAS will still use it in their GPA calcuations, which is what matters.

Yes, that is exactly the case. The old grade will still show but the GPA just changes. I think in that case the best option would be to just leave it and do well in Calc II. Would that show that I can clearly handle the material? I know Calc II is not needed for medical school but I need it for my major :(
