Hello All! I know we are all thoroughly pleased(or not) about our test scores. I have a quick question regarding whether I should retake the SAT. I did very well overall, but the biggest problem is my writing score. I got a 2200 overall with an 800 in critical reading, 740 in math, and 660 in writing. I did not do well in my writing section and am wondering whether this will hurt my college chances. I have only taken the SAT once and need to also take the SAT 2's in October. I know that early admissions are due November first, but would it be smart to retake the SAT in November to get a higher writing score? Thanks I hope you all have a great Summer!

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal because many colleges still dont care as much about the Writing as the do the math and critical reading

But would a increased writing, like a 720 or a 740 help my chances into getting into the coveted ivy leagues?

I think going from a 660 to a 740 would be beneficial, because your writing score is solidly below the 25th percentile at most top schools. If you take bluebook practice tests and consistently score 750+ in writing, then you should consider retaking.

The Writing score is the easiest section to improve upon. If you have time to prepare for the Nov. SAT, take it then.

Many schools mostly care about Math and CR. I also got a 660 in writing but high CR and Math scores and I have decided I’m done with the SAT.
