Should I retake my SAT?

I’m a rising senior applying to colleges next month. UNC Chapel Hill is my top choice. I have the opportunity to take one final SAT in October (unable to make the August one), but don’t know if I should. My current score is a 1410, so it’s ~ok~. Not great, but I guess it’s still good. 740 for Reading and 670 for Math (yikes).

Is it worth retaking it? It’ll be my fourth time and honestly I already know I won’t have much time to study for it since I’m in IB and a lot of our IAs and stuff are due early this fall. I’m not quite at the 75th percentile for UNC which (I think) is around 1430. It would be in my interests to score at least a 1500, but I just don’t know. I have a perfect GPA and I’m 1st in my class with solid ECs, so is retaking the SAT worth it?

No. 4 times is already too many and in my opinion I think it starts to make you look worse. You have proven you are a hard worker via your grades.

If you think you can get a stronger score yes but if you’re short on time focus on your school stuff first

I think GPA outweighs test scores in college decisions. If you have time and really want to improve your score, go ahead. Make sure you’re in range or above range for the colleges you’re interested in. Nevertheless, 1410 is an awesome score. I believe you’re in the 93rd percentile or somewhere around that.

Best of luck.

I think you should retake it, and make it your absolute last. 4 times is already way too much.
