Should i retake my SAT's if applying as a transfer?

Hi, i'm applying as a transfer to many schools ( i will apply as a transfer junior year) and my SAT's are really crappy (1670/2300 <---or 2400 i don't knkow). Anyway i'm applying to some top schools, so i'm wondering if my SAT will even matter by the time i applied (2 years completed in college, after high school), which leads to the question...should i even retake it?

For Georgetown, Yes.

A 1670 is pretty low, its in your best interest to retake.

After completing a two year degree, no you shouldnt take the SAT again. That like asking a doctor to take the MCAT again. you college gpa is what counts.

Did the OP complete a 2-year degree? I thought it was just that he’s applying as a junior.

In any event, I rarely say this to junior transfers, but RETAKE THEM. A 1670 is very weak and begs, regardless of how justifiably, the question of whether or not you can do the work at Georgetown. Put aside time (preferably in the summer) to prepare and seek the SAT prep forum if you have questions about how best to study or regarding classes.

Regarding the fallacious MCAT analogy, he has not graduated with a bachelor’s degree. This is more akin to a medical student transferring up to a higher medical school, in which case MCAT would be a significant factor.

Definitely retake the SAT. I applied to Yale as a transfer (Possibly not the best example), but they definitely use it for screening, and while they don’t really give it standing in the final decisions it is a very important part of the consideration process. It is the only score that colleges you apply to can directly compare your performance to applicants from other colleges. In comparison college GPA if over 3.8 means very little. 1670 is low. Definitely retake and aim for somewhere around 2000.

I just assumed the op had or is completing a two year degree, if not, sure take the SAT again and dwell on the past… Isn’t college fun? If I were in this position i would have (in the first place) picked a college i actually wanted to go, so then i wouldn’t want to transfer and save myself the time, money, and grief.
