<p>Hi I'm currently a senior and I took subject tests earlier in June for Math 2C and Chemistry. I was able to get a 800 on math but unfortunately, I got a 680 in Chemistry</p>
<p>I was wondering if I should retake Chemistry for a higher school (I'm willing to re-study and everything) and I was wondering if it's worth it for the schools I'm aiming for.</p>
<p>Here's some of my basic stats
UC GPA: 3.96
SAT score: 2070 (just retook this month.....I'm pretty confident and hopeful that I got at least a 2150) ._.
I took AP Chem Junior year and got myself a 4</p>
<p>As for my main target school, its UCSD. I'm very aware that the UC system no longer requires subject tests, but I've been told that they will still consider my scores.</p>
<p>So should I just send in the score that I have, retake it, or not send it altogether??</p>
<p>If a colleges says that something isn’t required to make their decisions, they are probably true about it. 2150 is good for UCSD, considering that other parts of your application aren’t bad either. </p>
<p>A 680 chemistry may hurt your chances only if a school compulsorily requires subject test results and the school is highly competitive. I would recommend that you don’t send subject test result and don’t waste time and money by stressing on chemistry.
Rather concentrate on essays, of other college’s application.</p>
<p>Only condition to retake would be if other colleges you are applying to, list subject tests as compulsory and you feel that your 680 isn’t competitive. Not for this case of UCSD.</p>
<p>Even though it is no longer required, I would spend the time and money and retake it, trying to raise your score-- particularly if your major is somehow Chemistry related. Your current stats are within range but not WELL within range for UCSD, so submitting an SAT subject test in the 700 range to compliment that 800 Math score would look good. You don’t want to say “what if”, in case you are not accepted.</p>
