Should I retake? Please help!

Hi… I’m just looking for opinions… any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been planning to apply to a few top tier schools (and I really want to go to UPenn, but I’ve never visited the campus so I don’t think I’ll apply ED)… my SAT scores are:

SAT
M: 720; CR: 750; W: 770 (One sitting. 2240 total.)

SAT II’s
Literature: 650
Mathematics Level 2: 730
U.S. History: 670

I think I’ll leave everything over 700 alone… but should I retake the Literature and/or US History subject tests?

Thanks for any input!

You can get in with those scores, but they won't really help you. If you think you were having a bad testing day, then retaking can only help.

I always feel that your performance on SAT IIs is important if those subjects are related to your potential major. If you're going to major in history or liberal arts, then, yes, you should def. retake them. Math IIC's fine. Your SAT is so-so. If you think you can def. do better, then go for it. Otherwise, just leave it; it's okay.

A 2240 is NOT a so-so SAT. Sure, some people do better, but you did very well on the SAT, anyone who says otherwise needs to take a look at SAT statistics.

Thanks for the advice to everyone who replied!

Yeah... I'm considering majoring in either English or International Relations... or maybe a double major w/both. But I'm not positive on either one, so I'll definitely go into college as "undeclared" or "undecided"... So, in that case, I guess they couldn't look specifically at scores of the tests most compatible with my choice of major.

Grrr. So confused. But I think we have until September to register for the next SAT, right? I guess I'll just have to think about retaking the Lit and US Hist subject tests between now and then.

I think her SAT general score is amazing

Amazing? The SAT is a standardized test...nothing amazing about it. Good, very good, sure, but amazing? Such a thing doesn't exist in something as one dimensional as the SAT.

I actually liked the SAT... it was a challenge in terms of pointwhoring (that and I was competing with a friend... unhealthy I know).

You're unhealthy legend. At least 8k calories.

It was more like 65536 calories... the maxint

a 2240 will not get you into any schools but will not keep you out. it's all about the extra stuff so focus more on your apps than memorizing random vocab words

MEmorize? It's just natural man. Who doesn't use supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in every day speak.
