i am a senior going to college. i got a 1340 on my sat. But i am planning to transfer to a good business school after freshmen year. I am sure i will get good a gpa in college, but i am most worrying about my sat score. It sucks!!!!!! Does anyone think that i can retake my sat in june for a better chance to transfer to a good school (let say: upenn)

1340 out of 1600 or out of 2400?

If you are in HS, and think you can improve your score, I would say go ahead.

But I heard that as you progress into junior, senior year in college, your sat score becomes increasingly irrelevant and some schools will not look at it.

you post isn't very clear; first you say that you are a senior going to college, than you state that you have not completed freshmen year...

Also, what is the breakdown of your score?

although i am not the OP i will post my score anyway, and you can comment wheter i should retake or not

sat 1: m 780, v 460, w 580
sat 2: 2c 800, physics 760, chem 710

and i am in my senior year in HS, and going to go to U of Melbourne in australia and then try to transfer to the US after my freshman year there

WHat?????????
anonamous, ar you the same person as mw07280??

If yes, then I think you should retake the sat and try to improve your verbal, remember schools often pick your best scores in each section, so you don't have to worry about getting a lower math score the same time around.

"although i am not the OP i will post my score anyway" - no i am not mw07...

should i retake my sat 2 as well? because i am pretty sure i can get close to full if not full score for physics and chemistry

I mean, if you think you can get a better score, you should definitely retake those tests. However, I don't see how that is possible since there is only 1 date left for the sat, and you cannot take both the SAT and IIs on the same day. So, you have to choose only type of SAT if you want to finish everything by the end of senior year. If i were you, I would retake the SAT I since your other score are very high already.

Just curious, I are you going all the way to australia just to spend a year there? wouldn't it be much more convinient go to a US univ. from the beginning? - unless this U Mel. is very very renown anyways.

I am from Thailand, not U.S. And I did apply to the US and got rejected from my top choices and got admitted to my safeties. anyway u melbourne is ranked top 20 in the world, definitely better than the safeties i got admittted to, so i am going to go there.

i think i should retake both my sat 1 and 2, but since there is 1 sat date left i might retake during my time at college.

also mark, do you know what kind of SAT scores i need in order to transfer to cornell, carnegie mellon and rice. can you give me some scores that i should aim for?

PS: sorri OP if i had stolen this thread! lol

i apologize for not being so clear, i meant, "senior, going to college", and i want to retake the SAT to improve my score. Thank you for the replies.

well, aim for the highest. above 650 for v is fine.

to be frank i dont think i can get 650 in verbal.... i found the verbal section to be so f***ing hard.. haha

i think i might be able to get 600 if im lucky
