I'm a rising senior, so my options are kinda limited as far as retaking goes. I was super pleased with my lopsided 1970 (750V,570M,650W); however, I realized that if I want to apply to Brown (which I think do) I need a score that is way higher than that, meaning I'd have to reaise my math score by at least 150 points, and my Writing by another 100. However, I have to retake my SATII's. I got a pitiful 560 in MathIC, a 620 in Chem and a 700 in Bio (Bio stays). I was planning on retaking Math, Chem, Latin for the first time, in October. While these scores will work in time for ED, the November SAT's wouldn't. So if an applicant is applying ED, should they retake a mediocre 1970 first or horrible SATII's? Of course, I could always not apply ED at all, and it won't be a problem, but then I fear for my chances period.

retake SATs to pull up the Math. retake SATII MathIC and possibly Chem if you think you can improve to 700+

I would apply to Brown ED and take SATs in October. Then retake SATIIs in November just in case for your RD schools. feel free to ask me any other questions.

Thanks for your advice, I think that's what I might have to end up doing. I've taken several practice tests in IC, and I've gotten over 700, so I definitely will retake that (in November). Chemistry is a little more iffy, depending on how well I do on the practice tests. However, I am wondering if you know of any good study books for the Latin SAT II. The only one I saw on amazon had horrible reviews all of which claimed it was full of errors (something I definitely don't need!).
