Should I retake SAT US Subject Test?

Hey guys, first time poster but long time lurker here.

I'm wondering whether I should be retaking my SAT US Subject Test in August or not. My score was a 740. I'm looking at the upper tier colleges (Harvard, Princeton etc) and have no URM.

Other information:
2350 SAT Reasoning
800 Math II
800 Physics
790 Chemistry
3.94 at a somewhat prestigious private school
etc etc etc I'm sure most people lurking CC have these stats or better.

So I'm pretty disappointed with my US score, and I'm wondering whether I need to retake it or just not bother sending it in. How important is a Humanities subject test?

Thank you.

If I were you, I would not retake. A 740 is fine.

Since when does the CB have sittings in Aug?

^ They do not. October is the next month.

Yeah, sorry about that. I meant October.

I was signed up for the June test, today I believe, but skipped it because I felt like I was not ready enough.

I wouldn’t be concerned. I would use the time remaining to make yourself stand out in some other way. You are in the ballpark on the numbers. But why should you be picked (if applying as an academic admit) as the one of about twenty applying to, say, Yale?
Please keep in mind that I am talking the tippy-top. You are likely to be admitted to several elites as is. Kudos to you already.

Well, I don’t think you would be rejected because you had a 740 in U.S. History. If you feel it’s important to retake the test, then do so. But an 800 most likely won’t significantly boost your chances.

Best of luck.

No, unless your ECs/recs/intended major all indicate a humanities major.
