Should I Retake SAT?

I took the SAT once in August of my junior year without preparing at all just to see where I stand and I got a 1510 (770 english, 740 math). I took like one or two practice tests and retook it in November and got a 1550 (750 english, 800 math). My gpa is really really low and I’m trying to get into some top tier schools, so should I retake the SAT and try to go for an 800 english to get a perfect 1600? Or is the difference between 1600 and 1570 so minuscule that it’s really not worth it? I’m also planning on taking the ACT but I would like to send both ACT and SAT scores (using whichever one is worse as a supplemental score).

Don’t retake and don’t bother with the ACT as a 1550 SAT makes it superfluous. Your post suggests you are a current senior so a last minute standardized test score is likely to make no difference in your applications that already have been submitted. Concentrate on your GPA.

No. Focus on other aspects of your application.

It’s not worth it. If a college rejects you with a 1570, they would not have accepted you with a 1600, IMO. The difference in scores is not statistically significant.

What a huge waste of time and money. No college will be impressed. In fact, you might encounter resistance from AOs who wonder if there is more to you than a test-taking automaton.

your superscore is 1570 so I wouldn’t retake try to get your gpa up if possible and other things

i’m actually a junior rn, and it’s january of my junior year

I would suggest improving your GPA( you still have a whole semester and half semester of senior year, take some APs and Honors to add some points if it is really that low), score 800 on SAT subjects, take AP exams and score 4s and 5s, concentrate on your ECs. These all will help you to compensate your low GPA more than 1600 on SAT.
