I got a 720 on US History and 690 in Lit (without taking the class or studying really, so kind of just shooting from the hip). The schools I'm going to apply to are (respectively) Duke, Stanford, UChicago, Washington in St Louis, Notre Dame, and UFlorida

Stanford's a reach for me already so I know I'd need to retake for there. But what about Duke, I'm applying ED there.

Also I'm taking Spanish sometime after summer, which hopefully I'll do great on.

Do you speak spanish at home? There are a lot of native speakers who take it and throw the curve off for the language tests. Ill say because of that they have the harshest curve

Ahh so the Spanish SAT II is like AP Spanish huh? No, I’ve only learned Spanish from high school, but I do speak it as much as I can. I guess if I do take it I can only hope that few native speakers do at the same time.

Retake the lit; don’t retake the USH.
Yes, it’s a 30 point difference but having scores in the 700s is just so much more visually appealing, and is basically what they’re looking for. They don’t really care if you got a 720 compared with a 770 but a 720 is a mile better than a 690. That seems to be how it goes. 700 = you’ve mastered this subject.

Edit: And about the Spanish, I took that just relying on AP prep and got >700.
So if you do well in Spanish class, don’t worry about the curve, and take it!

Does anyone know if the SAT score choice option applies for SAT II’s also? I might retake Lit if it does when i take Spanish. I’ve got Spanish 1 and 2 under my belt and I’m taking 3 online over summer and AP next year.

SAT score choice does apply. However, some schools don’t accept score choice. You should check the policy of schools you’re planning on applying to.

Also, I would advise not taking spanish unless you’re a native speaker. The people who take it are mainly native speakers, and they mess up the curve alot.
