yea too late for january test tho

yeah you should depending on what schools you are applying to…it may be too late but you can do late registration (30 more dollars) or standby registration (60 more dollars but does not guarantee you a spot) two of friends had standby registration and they got tests. depending on what # standbyer you are, most likely you will get a test because they usually send in extras or someone may not take the test that day. good luck
and for the math my tips would be that, most of them are trick questions like one of mines was there is a boy whose class has 19 other boys and 33 people in total what is the ratio that he will pick a boy out of a hat for his project now most people would say 19 to 33, but thats wrong because he counts as one of those boys and one of those people, so the answer would be 18 to 32 (there were no reduced answers)

^ wait… isn’t that math wrong? unless i’m confused :S gah i suck at math. wouldn’t it be 19:32…?

it’s not too late for the january test, try standby registration, it can never hurt but it’s not a guarantee.

Too late bro, sorry

nope…because he is a boy so he can not choose himself he is a part of the 19 as well as the 33 so it would be 18 to 32

Seems like it’s 19:32 as you stated the problem. You said the class has 19 other boys but a total of 33 kids. So, there are 32 other kids in total and 19 other boys. Maybe you misstated the problem here?

^ I thought so! key word being: other

LOL this has been really off-topic, but i’m really panicky about my math lately… thanks for clarifying hahaa

on topic: again, try standby if you have the time. if not… well, there’s always next year

Why wouldn’t his name be in the hat

And, they’re not trick questions, the test is designed to test cognitive ability at math, putting trick questions in would be pointless

Putting in trick questions may be pointless, but that doesn’t stop the test makers from including them.

Sometimes it helps to read the math questions like you would an English passage, underlining or boxing key words – like “other” in the above case. Especially with word problems, that can help keep you from missing important details that you need to get the right answer.

First off, it is 19:32. Second, i didn’t think there were any trick questions on the one I took. Just cuz the wording of a problem confuses u or makes u think a little outside the box doesn’t make it a trick question.

Yeah it is 19:32 cuz it says other boys, and it depends where you live, and if you want to spend the extra money. I just registered today for standby registration, and I pretty much know I am going to get in cuz at the last test I took there was three of us in all, and they adminirstator said there was only two the time before that, I would say find a test location where you think there won’t be very many applicants, and go for it!

andoverexeter you can never be positive about that. I took the SSAT in november and there were only 5 people, but when my friend took it in December the room was packed. However, yours probably won’t be as packed.
Good Luck!!!

Haha thanks, but harldy any Iowan’s specificly where I live go, so I am pretty confident, haha.
