My son got a 34 and decided to retake for the same reasons; just felt he could do better and wanted to give it a try. Taking it twice doesn’t look bad.

If you’re fine with it, don’t retake it and move on with your life; as others have said, it’s a great score. But if you feel like you left something on the table, it’s fine to give it another go.

When I asked my D if she would retest after a 34 she replied “why would I want to waste a perfectly good Saturday morning when my score is fine as it is?”

My D got 35 on her first and only ACT in March of her junior year, she decided not to retake because that is basically her plateaued practice score achieved since 6 months ago. If she got 34 instead, she might give it another trial. It turned out ACT 35 is the threshold for several scholarships she received from different schools.

@billcsho this is exactly what I fear might happen. I don’t want to be 1 point away from getting scholarships and such.

Thank you all for your replies
