Ok, last year I took the ACT without writing and scored a 35 composite (36 sci, 35 math, 35 eng, 32 reading), and was very content with them. I also took the SAT and scored a 2220 (760 math, 750 writing, 710 reading) and got a 9/12 on the essay portion.

Now, a lot of the schools I will be applying to require either the ACT+writing or the SAT to be sent in. Since I plan to major heavily in mathematics or physics, I don't anticipate that a 9/12 will seriously weigh me down, but I just want to know whether or not I should sign up to retake the ACT again with writing. Or, will those 2 scores suffice for all practical purposes?

What about a 7 lol. And I plan on majoring in physics and astronomy

I got a 30 composite, but I got a 7 yes SEVEN in writing. I know it’s horrible, please don’t remind me. There are a couple red flags that go up with my score:

-Regarded as a very good writer by my teachers.
-I got a 33 in english, so that wasn’t the problem.
-At my school, the top students in my class (including myself), nor valedictorians nor salutatorians of the past two classes, have scored above an 8.
-A couple of my friends that are complete idiots both got 9’s.

It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Do they grade you on how long it is or something?
Also, I’ve heard ACT was investigated about their writing graders years ago.
